Ethiopia’s last emperor Haile Selassie (1892 – 1975) is to this day revered by the million-strong Rastafarian community. This documentary shows us the man behind the myth by describing the emperor and his regime through the eyes of people, who then held leading positions, or have worked closely with him. A moving and insightful portrait of a defining figure in African history.

Ethiopian filmmaker Yemane Demissie lives in New York where he teaches film, television and documentary studies at NYU’s Maurice Kanbar Institute. An independent writer, producer, and director, Yemane has received numerous national and international grants and fellowships for his work including the AFI Filmmaker's Grant.
