SILENT STORIES

Belgium 2011

A poetical portrait of two men and two women whose sexual identity forced them to leave Dakar, Algiers, Conakry and Baghdad. Different as the four characters might be in terms of age, social and educational background and country of origin, what binds them is their emotional struggle, their grief for what they lost and their hope for what the future might bring.

Hanne Phlypo graduated from INSAS (Institut National Supérieur des Arts de Spectacle et de la Diffusion) in Brussels in 2006. Catherine Vuylsteke is a writer and journalist. In 2008 she wrote a book about homosexuality in the Moroccan community. Silent Stories is their first documentary project.
