France 2009

The day rises on the suburbs of Paris. Carl, a young Antillean man, gets out of his flat. Today is his first day as policeman. He is affected with Alain an inflexible fifty-year-old Antillean policeman with a strong character who has to support Carl while he makes his first steps in the police. With a different vision of the world, they will have to learn to work together and to overcome the daily challenges of what it means to be a black policeman in France today.

Gary Pierre-Victor from Guadalupe discovered cinema studying it on his own. He is currently working on the screenplay of his first feature film DARON.

This short film is part of the Round about African Shorts program, Shorts 1 Diaspora and will be screened with THE AUDACITY - HEAR ME - THE SUSPECT - THE VILLAGE
