In Niger, where more than 80% of the population is illiterate, radio is the most important communication medium. Radio is everywhere: in the houses, on the street, even in the bush. Radio entertains, informs, keeps the powerful in check and ensures that the people of Niger get their hands on the mike and enjoy, via the radio waves, the sound of democracy. An intense documentary that tells the story of Niger’s FM revolution.
Luc Peter and Stéphanie Barbey form a Swiss duo. They co-directed various features and documentaries independently of each other. Magic Radio is their first common project. Peter works as a producer for Intermezzo Films SA.
