Kenya is modernizing at full-speed. Traditionally rooted religious, tribal and neocolonial values are, nonetheless, still present. Many Africans deny that homosexuality exists in their culture. Homosexuality is therefore also punishable by law in Kenya: 7 years in prison if it is discovered. Courageous gays and lesbians tell us how they are managing in a hostile society and how they are fighting for their relationships, love life and recognition. When harassed and subject to violence, they cannot complain to the police.

Bram Vergeers’ first film was ZENJI FLAVA. He lived for a while in Kenya where he made the documentaries NEW VOICES and 7 YEARS. Together with filmmaker Tim Metz, he runs the Stichting InsideOut organization in order to work on film projects that give another view of the world.
