Fangafrika, La voix des sans voix

Hip hop may have been born in the Bronx; in Africa it grew up. In Ouaga, Burkina Faso, Africa’s best hip hopers come together to tackle, via hip hop, the problems afflicting Africa all over. Hip hop is one of the few communication channels in Francophone Africa that is honest and that makes people think. FANGAFRIKA is a homage to it, with artists such as Didier Awadi, Smockey, Apkass, Pee Froiss, Tata Pound and the Ouaga All Starz.

STAYCALM! is a collective from Paris made up of filmmakers, photographers and journalists, all of whom are dedicated to militant Black music. FANGAFRIKA is a 4-year project revealing the abundance of talented rap bands from Francophone West Africa through a DVD, a CD and a book.
