Angola in the Picture
After a gap of 16 years, on 6 September there will be parliamentary elections again in Angola. The last elections led to a civil war which lasted 27 years. Special attention will be paid to Angola at just the right moment, with the classic SAMBIZANGA by Sarah Maldoror, the powerful film about the Angolese fight for freedom, which was only allowed to be shown in Angola after it had become independent. There will also be the internationally renowned O’HEROI by Zeze Gamboa, the first film to be made at the end of the civil war and OUTRAS FRASES about the Angolan Company of Contemporary Dance and the swinging ANGOLA- HISTORIAS DE MUSICA POPULAR. The evening will end with music from a live DJ.
The best Angolese classics can also be seen in Rotterdam.
In cooperation with Aristoteles Kandimba Coelho (Totti) from the Angolese
foundation União Angolana.
