Rita is seventeen, just about to graduate, and desperately in love with Youri. Both are from Casablanca’s middle class. The only difference between them is their religion:Rita is Mulsim, Youri is Jewish. With plenty of verve, Laïla Marrakchi paints a portrait based on her own experiences of privileged youth in Morocco trying to find their way through Western and traditional ideology. This film caused a lot of controversy in the Moroccan press, but was extremely popular with audiences.
