The Trousseau

When the young British Ama learns of her mother’s death she decides to return to her birthplace in Ghana. The women of her clan, however, question her suitability in taking her brittle grandmother’s place in the funeral preparations. Ama breaks with tradition and proves them wrong by finding a means to express her sorrow in a ritual, which enables her mother to live her afterlife as she lived on earth.
