Hyacinthe Combary lives in Canada, where he misses the lively traditions of his homeland Burkina Faso. When he accidentally stumbles upon the Atikamekw Indians, he is surprised of how much their traditions and rituals resemble his own. An African homecoming in the northern snows of Canada… Hyacinthe Combary was born in Burkina Faso, and later emigrated to Quebec in 1999. She worked behind the camera for Femmes étrangE`res by Anita Alqisio and Dabla! Excision by Érica Pomerance (both 2002). Recently, she directed the documentary Tales of Sand and snow.
