An adventurous and musical interpretation of the New Testament, set against the backdrop of a contemporary South Africa plagued by poverty, corruption and violence. A poor couple has a godly child together, the Son of Man. This redeemer, and his ever growing flock of followers, fight for solidarity and against corruption by means of peaceful protest. The Jewish tribal powers-that-be are not too happy, and devise a way to clip his wings. Before establishing the Dimpho Di Kompane theatre company, Mark Dornford-May worked in the English theatre scene for 25 years. His company won the Golden Bear with U-Carmen eKhayelitsha in 2005.
