Shared History

In this fascinating documentary the offspring of both slaves and slave owners at the Woodlands Plantation in South Carolina delve deep into their family history. During this process some of the descendants meet. And so begins an intriguing search for the other person’s truth behind the indebted relationship that lasted for over 260 years. Felicia Furman starting making films when she was forty; documentaries about social and historical subjects. She directed Shared History (2005) and produced, among others, Passing It On: A Tap Legacy (1997). Furman was director of the Colorado Dance Festival in Boulder, Colorado.
