What’s it like for a black punk lover to move in the white world of punk rock? In Afro-punk, the film-maker hunts out black punks, and lets them speak about their search for identity, and about prejudice and loneliness within this world. Exclusive interviews with, for example, Fishbone, 24-7 Spys, Dead Kennedys and Bad Brains. James Spooner grew up in California and New York and started producing films because he wanted to tell the world his story. Spooner also was a sculptor, exhibiting in New York and Seattle, and editor. His first film Afro-Punk (2004) won various prices.
