In 2033, every European wants to go to Africa, as there is work instead of war and poverty.
But the United States of Africa doesn’t want European mig-rants. Africa Paradis plays with xenophobic and racist commonplaces, and is inspired by the real, pitiful circumstances of migrants in Europe. Europe is held up a mirror, but this also goes for everyone who is under the impression all bad things come from Europe. The truculent credits make this parody a love story and political thriller to disillusioned critics of society. Sylvestre Amoussou was born in Bénin but has been living in France for over 20 years. After a career in acting he decided to start producing films. He created various short films; Africa ParadisE is his first long feature film.
