Several years ago, two African boys were found dead in the wheel compartment of a plane.
In a letter, they begged European leaders to help African youth. Un Matin Bonne Heure uses the story in a beautifully built, fictional tale of two boys who decide to leave. The restrained images depict beauty, but also a hopeless situation. A girlfriend who was left behind in Africa talks about the two boys she knew, giving the film a serene, poetic quality. Gahité Fofana has largely made a name for himself as a documentary maker. His work reveals a powerful social commitment and is about topical African issues. Early in the Morning is his second feature. The script for the film was given an award by the Fondation Beaumarchais SACD.
