The starting point of Beur, Blanc, Rouge is the friendly football match between France and Algeria on October 6th 2001, which exploded in the 76th minute with a pitch invasion by Algeria supporters. The main character is Brahim, a young unemployed French Algerian who gets arrested during the match. Afterwards, his parents take him to Algeria. Catchy music and comic exaggeration complete this parody of Beur youths wrestling with their double identity. Born in Algeria, Mahmoud Zemmouri is director, scenarist, actor and producer. He started his career as an actor in Que fait-on ce dimanche (1979), and in 1980 he directed Prends 10 000 balles et tire-toi. Beur, blanc, rouge (2005) is already his fifth long feature film.
